Health and Safety

Taping cables down -

This is important as it means that nobodys foot can get caught under the cable and then trip.

Taping cables to the boom stands -

This is important as it means that no cables are running loose as they will be attached to the boom, it is also good for the cables as they are not being pulled which coould break them and it means lights will not be moved out of focus.
Stage weights on the booms

This is important as it gives support to the boom to make sure it does not fall over as it could land on someone walking past which with it having the lights on it would be very heavy and could cause a lot of damage.

Tape on the edge of staging and stairs in the audience -

Hazard tape was used around the set for two reasons :
  1. It worked well with the set instead of just white gaffer tape.
  2. In a blackout when the actors are getting offstage, if they did not see the staging then it could become a trip hazard, so something needs to be put in place to make it more obvious that the staging is there, this would usually be white gaffer tape but hazard tape suited the show better.

Your Role In Action - Colour Call

This is a colour call, these are made so that it is very easy to see what gels need to be cut and how big the gels need to be as the different lanterns would need different size gels to go in them.
This would be passed onto a team to cut and have ready before the focusing sessions so that they can be put in and the process can be a quick as possible.

Focus notes are important as they mean that if for whatever reason you cannot makes it to the focus session, the team that would be focusing the lights would still have all of you notes and be able to do exactly what is needed for you.
The notes need to be in detail so that there should not be any need for questions to be asked about you plans and ideas of the lights.
